Absalom’s Rebellion
2 Samuel 15-17

Summary:

Absalom gains favor of the people by answering to their complaints and undermining the power of King David. Absalom asks to become King of Hebron and his following of peoplebecomes larger. Absalom devises a plan to kill David. David flees to mount olive. Absalom sends twelve thousand men after David to try to kill him. Absalom announces that if David is killed all of his followers can return to Jerusalem unharmed. Absalom seeks advice on how to kill David but doesn’t listen. David is able to avoid battle with Absalom’s army.
