God’s Promise to David
2 Samuel 7-9
Summary:
After defeating all of his enemies David pondered how blessed he has been and that he livesin a palace of Cedar and God lives in a tent. (2 Samuel 7:1-2) David wants to build God a temple to show is thanks. David’s servant Nathan receives a vision from God making promises to David that he will provide for his people and build his family who will succeed him. David responds to God in prayer“Who am I, O Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? (2 SAM 7:18-19). David continues to pray and honor God for all that He has done for him and that he doesn’t understand why he has God’s favor. In 2 Samuel 8, God fulfills his promises to David. David defeats all his enemies and reigned over all of Israel. Finally David shows generosity to people from the house of Saul and takes in one of Saul’s servants who was disabled.
