I noticed, in our last few daily “Epic” readings, we have been asked squarely: “Who do we turn to when we are struggling with fear or with issues that are greater than we are?” Many of us turn to friends or family. Some of us turn to ourselves to find strength to deal with these concerns. Some have found the strength to reach out to service agencies or churches in order to get help for urgent, immediate needs. How many of us first turn to God?
When we do turn to God, how does He choose to meet our needs? How often do you hear a current day story where God provides “manna” or multiplies what we have as with the early “loaves and fishes” miracles? Instead, we hear regularly of God providing food, shelter, love, encouragement, financial support and other gifts by moving His people to give and to serve their brothers and sisters in need.
In the book of John, Jesus commands us to love one another. He tells us that by this, all men will know that we are His disciples.
John 15:12 “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.”
John 13:35 “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
At Community Church we encourage our members and regular attendees to live out this great commandment. We encourage you to use your gifts to show His love to those around you…family, friends, neighbors and strangers. Though you should take every chance you get to show love generously and unconditionally, we are making arrangements for each of us to have a chance to show God’s love right here at Community Church on Saturday, April 11th, during Community Days. We ask our church family to take time out that day to come in and either serve at one of the fun activities or if you can, bring your family and come along side our special guests to enjoy a great breakfast, Easter egg decorating, egg hunting, cookie decorating, relay races, seed planting and a petting zoo. Join in the fun; show love by welcoming special guests into our home church with open arms.
