David’s Kingdom Reestablished
2 Samuel 20-24

Summary:

Sheba rebels against David so Joab and David’s army sets out to destroy him. They find him in the City of Abel Beth Maacah. To avoid having their city destroyed by Joab and his army they cut off Sheba’s head and peace was restored. (2 Samuel 21) There was a great feminine and David asked God what he could do to repay his sin to stop the famine. David aloud the Gibeonite people to avenge the death of their people by sacrificing the descendants of Saul. Once again Israel went to battle with the Philistines and Israel was victorious. (2 Samuel 22) David sings a song of praise to God for all that he has done for him. (2 Samuel 23) This is David’s account of the strong and powerful men who helped him to win many battles. These men killed when they didn’t have to. (2 Samuel 24) God becomes angry again and put a plague on Israel that kills 70 thousand people. David doesn’t understand why he is spared and then builds him an altar and offered burnt sacrifices.

What the lord can provide he can also take away. Am I living my life for God and not for myself? What can he take from me that I am not appreciating?

God, help me to appreciate and be thankful for my life and what you have done for me. Let me pray without end and put you in all of my daily activities
