Summary
After Saul’s death David was made King of Judah, however there was a battle for power with Israel and the house of Saul. However, eventually those people were killed and David assumes power over Israel. He then conquered Jerusalem and called it “The City of David.” It was there that eventually he had the Ark of the Covenant brought into the city..
Sample of Today’s Reading:
David had lived among the Philistines for a while and gained their trust to the point that he was invited to fight with them against the Israelites. Saul was so afraid of the Philistines that he sought out a medium in private in order to speak with Samuel, who had died. Samuel informed Saul that his his original prophesy was being carried out and Saul and the Israelites would fall to the Philistines. David was on his way to fight against Israel but asked to return to the land of the Philistines where he found that it had been raided and all the women and children were taken. Then the LORD told him to overtake the Amalekites and get back all that was taken. Later on during the battle between the Philistines and Israel, Saul saw that it was over and died after his sons were killed.

Question of the Day
Saul chose to use a medium because he was afraid and doubtful of what the future held for him. Who do you run to when there is fear and doubt about your future?

God, help me to come to you when I am anxious or afraid of what the future holds. Remind me that you and you alone are in control of my future.
